Natural Acne Remedy
There are a great many claims of home remedies that are available , but not all of them are tested , as a searcher for a great many and for any new ones that may apppear I found this one , which I think has some validation .
Thiough I have not tried it myself I would like to hear from any of you that have tried it . Please give a detailed account of how bad the acne is and what other remedies you have tried !
"The rose flower has been of significant value to a variety of cultures for many years. In western cultures the rose is generally used for its pleasant fragrance and yes in Asia it has been used for medicinal purposes for various ailments such as acne, scars and wrinkles.
How is Rose Water a Natural Acne Remedy?
The chemical composition of the rose flower is extremely complex as it contains over 300 chemical ingredients. The most significant ones that are useful as a natural acne remedy are Phenyl ethanol which is a natural antiseptic and disinfectant, and Eugenol which is anti-microbial and astringent.
Both of these compounds are effective for use against acne and some other skin ailments. The root cause of acne is an excess production of sebum which accumulates in the sebaceous glands. The antiseptic and anti-microbial properties of the rose water can kill the bacteria that leads to this over-production thus preventing the acne flare-up.
How to Use Rose Water as a Natural Acne Remedy
There are two main ways in which rose water can be used as a natural acne remedy. The first way is simply to apply the rose water directly to the affected area and use it like a facial mask. The second method is to use aromatherapy.
Instead of rose water, you can purchase the essential oil, rose oil which contains the essential extract of the rose and then use this in a variety of ways as part of an aromatherapy treatment. You can mix a few drops of the rose oil with a carrier oil (or even olive oil) and then massage this gently into the affected areas.
If you have acne in more difficult to reach areas such as the back, you can try taking a bath with a few drops of rose oil added to the water.
Lastly, there are many cosmetic products that contain rose water or rose extract such as moisturizers, facial cleansers and so on.
